RI to send more officers to Bosnia
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia is sending, today, 20 police officers as observers to war-torn Bosnia Herzegovina, in former Yugoslavia.
Maj. Gen. Koesparmono Irsan, deputy police chief in charge of operations, bade farewell, yesterday, to the officers -- members of the Garuda XIV contingent -- who will join the peace-keeping mission of the United Nations Protection Force.
The Garuda XIV contingent consists of officers from the air force, navy, army and police. The officers' commander is Lt. Col. Suhartono. Two other lieutenant colonels, seven majors and 11 captains make up the group. Some of the officers have been in other peacekeeping missions in Cambodia .
Over 200 members of the contingent flew to Bosnia-Herzegovina last month for the same mission.
Maj.Gen. Koesparmono said he hoped the contingent would be able to cope with any critical situations they may face in Bosnia-Herzegovina.(sim)
