RI to market agro-tourism
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia, with its rich and varied agricultural fields and plantations, will soon market agricultural tourism to attract more foreigners to visit the country.
"We have a lot of assets to develop agro-tourism facilities, but we don't know yet how to manage the assets professionally," Minister of Agriculture Sjarifudin Baharsjah said after witnessing the signing of an agreement of agro-tourism marketing.
The agreement was signed by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture Soetatwo Hadiwigeno and Secretary-General of the Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agents H. M. Bermawi.
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture will soon organize various agro-tourism destinations and supporting facilities, while the association will market tourism packages involving those destinations.
Director General of Tourism Andi Mappi Sammeng, who also witnessed the signing, said that agro-tourism will be very beneficial for both the country's framers and its tourist industry. (icn)
