RI to lobby S.Korea for LNG
Indonesia's Mines and Energy Minister, Purnomo Yusgiantoro,
will visit South Korea early next month in a bid to secure the
renewal of a liquefied natural gas supply contract with Korea Gas
Corp., an official said on Thursday.
Joko Harsono, head of the marketing division of the Oil and
Gas Implementing Body, a government supervised oil and gas body
for the upstream industry, said Purnomo will be in Seoul June 1
to June 2.
Indonesia currently supplies six million metric tons a year of
LNG to Kogas. The contract will expire in 2007.
Indonesia will meet tight competition from Russia and Malaysia
to supply LNG to Kogas after the current contract expires, he
said.
Indonesia is one of the world's top three LNG producers. --
