RI to host workers competition

JAKARTA: Indonesia has been appointed the host of the 4th ASEAN Vocational Skills Competition to be held here in October, Manpower Minister Jacob Nuwa Wea said Wednesday.

Jacob said the decision was made during the 16th ASEAN Labor Ministerial Meeting in Laos from May 9 through May 10.

The competition is expected to encourage skilled workers in Southeast Asian countries, he said.

The just concluded meeting also agreed to expedite the entry of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam to the regional labor market, he added. -- Antara
