DENPASAR: Some 445 senior high school students from 89
countries are expected to take part in the International Physics
Olympiade in Bali from July 21 through July 31.
"Some 30 countries have confirmed their participation,"
director general for elementary and high school education
Indrajati Sidi told reporters in Denpasar, Bali, after reporting
on the preparations for the event to Bali Governor Dewa Beratha
on Thursday.
He said each country would send five participants.
Indrajati also expressed the hope that the event would inspire
Indonesia's senior high school students to learn more about
physics.
Aside from the competition, there would also be a Physics
Teacher Congress and an exhibition displaying various projects
undertaken by physics students. -- Antara
