RI to host Aspactel expo

JAKARTA (Antara): A number of telecommunication and
information technology ministers from some Asian countries will
attend the Asia Pacific Telecommunication (Aspactel) Exhibition
2001 here on May 14-17, an organizer disclosed here on Friday.

Aspactel organizer, Sony Pasaka, said the visiting ministers
will include those from Singapore, Malaysia, India and China.

Ministers and delegations from other countries who have
confirmed their presence in the Aspactel 2001 include Datuk
Paduka Haji Abdullah Bakar from Brunei Darussalam's Ministry of
Communication; Cambodian Minister for Post and Telecommunication,
Sokhun; China's Minister of Industry and Information, Wu Yu
Juchuan; Indian Minister of Communication, Wilan Paswan; and
Singapore's Minister of Communication and Information Technology,
Yeo Cheow Tong.

Indonesia's Communication Minister Agum Gumelar is scheduled
to open Aspactel and its ministerial discussion forum.

"More than 90 domestic and foreign companies will take part in
Aspactel 2001," said Sony, who is also president director of the
Jakarta-based Multimedia Promo.
