RI to attend market meeting

JAKARTA (JP): The president of the Jakarta provincial
administration's market firm PT Pasar Jaya, Syahriar Tanjung,
will attend the Council Meeting of the World Union of Wholesale
Markets in Annapolis, Maryland, United States from April 1 to 6.

Tanjung said in a statement it was the first participation of
an Indonesian representative in the meeting.

"This is a great moment for the Indonesia wholesale and
vegetable industry as Indonesia now has full voting rights in the
World Union," Tanjung said.

The Indonesian position in the World Union was sponsored by
the Melbourne Market Authority (MMA), Victoria, Australia, the
statement said.

"This is a major step in bilateral cooperation between
Indonesia and Australia by having Australia as Indonesia's
sponsor at the World Union," MMA's chairman Jeremy Gaylard said.
