RI students in Malaysia get jobs
JAMBI: Forty-seven students from the Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) have received part-time jobs while participating in a two-month apprenticeship program in Malaysia.
"They seem to be performing well in the apprenticeship program. Many Malaysians offered them part-time jobs for 1,000 ringgit a month," IAIN rector, Sulaiman Abdullah, told Antara yesterday.
Some of them also have been asked to teach children to recite the Koran, Sulaiman said.
He pointed out that the part-time jobs were not detracting from the students' ability to complete the apprenticeship program.
The chairman of Jambi's Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI), Ahmad, said the apprenticeship program was aimed at encouraging the students to play an active role in strengthening the spirit of brotherhood among Moslems in the region and introducing Jambi's culture.
