RI students in Britain raise funds
JAKARTA: Indonesian students in Britain have collected 3,000 pound sterling (Rp 50 million) for humanitarian aid, spokesman for the Indonesian Embassy in London Achmad Rusdi has said.
The fund will be distributed to victims of natural disasters, the disabled, school dropouts, homeless people, orphans and prisoners in Indonesia by the Foundation of the Daya Dharma Institute in Central Jakarta, Achmad said on Sunday.
Achmad said the funds were raised by the students grouped in the Imperial College Indonesia Society from the sales of tickets for the Indonesian Night 2001, held at the London School of Economics on Nov. 16.
The event, which featured Indonesian cultural shows and cuisine, was attended by Britons, Indonesians and other Asians, he said. The Indonesian Ambassador to Britain Nana Sutresna was also present at the event. -- Antara
