RI-S'pore roaming deal
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia and Singapore have signed an agreement on roaming pager service between the two countries which will promote business, tourism and telecommunications, an executive said here yesterday.
Paulo Wang, president of PT SkyTelindo, said that the agreement will support his company's national paging service, called Skytel.
He said that pager owners from both countries can be paged while in either Singapore or Indonesia, in which technical trials will begin this month and be fully operational in August.
SkyTelindo is 51 percent owned by PT Indikom Primanusa, a subsidiary of Kedaung Group of Indonesia, 30 percent by Singapore Telecom International and 19 percent by Mobile Telecommunications International Inc. of the United States. By the end of this year, SkyTelindo will expand the roaming service to the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong and Malaysia.(icn)
