RI soldiers shine at Army Rifle Meet

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian soldiers finished first in the
overall champion pistol match, second in the overall champion
carbine match and machine gun match and third in the rifle match
in the ninth ASEAN Army Rifle Meet (AARM) in Brunei Darussalam.

In the individual events, Second Sgt. Joko R and First Pvt.
Totok won first and second place in the pistol match. Chief Sgt.
Pepen and First Sgt. Haryadi finished respectively second and
third in the rifle match, while Second Sgt. Dwi Purwoko and
Second Sgt. Hasan Basri came second in the automatic rifle match.

Second Sgt. Surata and Second Lt. Sartan won first place in
the individual carbine match and First Sgt. Joko Darmawan and
Second Sgt. Subata were second in the same event.

The AARM was held from Nov. 18 to Nov. 22 and was attended by
Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, the Philippines
and Laos. The armies of Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar missed the
annual event. (ivy)
