RI sixth most
corrupt country

From Media Indonesia

Transparency International has announced that Indonesia is the
sixth most corrupt country on the list of 133 nations worldwide,
with a corruption index of 1.9 (on a scale of 1 to 10). By
sector, the House of Representatives (DPR) is one of the major
sources of corruption through bribery and other political
kickbacks.

No wonder, then that this legislative institution coveted by
many former officials. Those who have enjoyed favorable positions
in the New Order regime and the present period are mostly
interested in serving as members of the DPR, the regional
representatives council and the regional legislature.

It should be the nation's concern if major corruption really
involves the DPR in view of its function to control the executive
institution, which in turn is apparently drifting into graft as
well. So, how to stop it?
