RI, Singapore to have conference

JAKARTA: A three-day bilateral conference on Indonesia-Singapore relations will be held here starting Friday.

Speakers at the conference will include former minister of foreign affairs Ali Alatas, former defense minister Juwono Sudarsono, ambassador Barry Desker of the Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies, Jusuf Wanandi of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Simon Tay of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) and Irene Ng, a parliament member from Singapore.

The conference, that will look at the impact of the new global and regional environment toward the relations between the two countries, is jointly organized by SIIA and CSIS.

The first day of the conference will be held at the CSIS in Central Jakarta and the rest at the Dharmawangsa Hotel, southern Jakarta. --JP
