RI, Singapore navies in exercise

BATAM, Riau: The Indonesian Navy and its Singaporean counterpart are scheduled to hold a joint exercise to improve security in the waters bordering the two countries next week.

Indonesia will deploy 125 personnel and two warships, KRI Todak and KRI Sigurot, plus a speed chase boat, three Sea Rider speed patrol boats, and a Nomad reconnaissance aircraft.

Singapore will use 170 personnel and two warships, RSS Unity and RSS Resilience, and five patrol boats.

The routine exercise has been carried out for the past decade due to frequent piracy in the waters of the Malacca Strait and Philip Strait bordering the two countries. -- Antara
