RI-Singapore Leaders' Retreat yields 26 concrete agreements

President Prabowo Subianto announced that the bilateral Leaders’ Retreat between Indonesia and Singapore resulted in 26 concrete cooperation achievements covering both government and business sectors. “This meeting produced 26 real, concrete achievements in various fields, 18 government-to-government cooperation agreements and eight business-to-business agreements,” President Prabowo said in a joint press statement with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday. Prabowo stated that the expansion of these achievements reflects the depth of integration in bilateral cooperation, with the economic sector remaining the main pillar of the relationship. As a concrete step, the Indonesian government has officially appointed the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to oversee the implementation of cross-border electricity trading between the two countries. “Indonesia has appointed BPI Danantara to implement cross-border electricity trading cooperation, as well as for subsequent trade activities,” President Prabowo said. Prabowo emphasised that the successful implementation of these dozens of commercial and governmental agreements requires fundamental support from strengthened people-to-people connectivity. Indonesia and Singapore agreed to continue promoting supporting partnership programmes in tourism, sustainable education, and collaboration between youth organisations.
