RI riders to race in 125cc GP

JAKARTA (JP): Two Indonesian riders will try to make waves in
the world motorcycling Grand Prix championships at Sentul circuit
near Bogor, West Java, next month.

Organizers of the championships said yesterday that Petrus
Canisius and Ahmad Jayadie will don their Yamaha Team racing
suits in the 125cc class during the April 5-7 event, the first
world championships to be held in Indonesia.

Both Petrus and Ahmad will face a daunting test in the
practices on April 5, which determine the qualifiers as well as
their grid positions.

The championships will feature three races in 125cc, 250cc and
500cc divisions. The organizers claimed on Tuesday to have sold
60 percent of 8,000 tickets. (amd)
