Nurcholish Madjid said that without moral resoluteness, it is
only a matter of time before this state collapses. This is not
the first statement that he has made, and it may not be his last.
We'll be waiting and waiting until this nation finally
disintegrates.

What will cause a nation to disintegrate? Nurcholish must give
a clear explanation. At present, with Abdurrahman Wahid as
president, there is no peace or security. The state no longer
protects the people, let alone make available sufficient food and
clothing.

Indonesia is really a tragic story. The government and the
people may be likened to oil and water. The distinction between
good and evil is no longer clear. A person will praise God, but
at the same time condemn his opponent, or be engaged in some
destructive acts. This is a phenomenon we are witnessing every
day.

How long will this nightmare last? The ruling quarters are
busy playing in a dream land, unable to feel the plight of the
people.

They have forgotten reality and are oblivious of the fact that
they hold the mandate of the people.

In the present era, things have happened that could never have
been imagined before. People are killing each other. Security
personnel are pursued as if they were convicts. All this is
enough reason to think that this state is on the brink of
collapse.

We hope the state will have a strong security organ in the
Indonesian Military (TNI) to ensure the people have peace and
security.
