RI nets silver, bronze at Biology Olympiad

JAKARTA: Two members of the Indonesian team participating in the International Biology Olympiad in Riga, Latvia, from July 8 through July 15 have won two medals.

Agus Dana Permana, who is leading the Indonesian team, said Alvernia Rendra Irawan of Taruna Nusantara senior high school in Magelang, Central Java, landed a bronze medal, and Adytia Jappar of the state-run senior high school in Purworejo, Central Java, grabbed a silver.

Two other participants -- Made Artadana and Ketut Wiarta, both from Bali -- gained honorable mentions.

Agus said he was proud of the two medals because Indonesia occupied the second and third ranks at the Olympiad, which was hosting a total of 155 participants from 41 countries. --JP
