RI nets $4.6m in orders
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian fisheries have received orders worth US$4.6 million during their participation in the Fish'98 Int'l and Sea Food Europe held in Germany recently.
The National Agency for Export Development said over the weekend the orders came from European countries, Venezuela, Egypt, the United States and Russia.
The orders indicate bright prospects for Indonesian fish and fish products in overseas markets, it said.
It added that the Indonesian companies were also still negotiating a contract worth $5 million per year to supply 20 tons of crab scraps per month to European importers.
Indonesian participants at the expo included Medan-based PT Medan Tropical canning and Frozen Industries, Jakarta-based Seafer General Foods, Semarang-based PT Windika Utama and Ambon- based CV. Binatama Mandiri. (gis)
