RI navy chief to visit Australia

CANBERRA (AFP): The Indonesian Navy's chief of staff, Admiral
Tanto Koeswanto, will meet Australian defense officials during a
visit here later this month, the Indonesian embassy announced
yesterday.

Admiral Koeswanto, who will be accompanied by senior naval
officers, will meet Australian Defense Minister Robert Ray, chief
of the Australian Defense Force, Admiral Alan Beaumont, and
Koeswanto's Australian counterpart, Admiral Rod Taylor.

Koeswanto and navy chiefs from Singapore, Thailand, New
Zealand and Sweden will attend the launch of the first of the new
Anzac frigates, HMAS Anzac, in Melbourne on Sept. 16.

Admiral Koeswanto will also visit Australian Defense
Industries' company headquarters in Sydney.
