RI motorcycle sales up 44%, Astra says

JAKARTA: Indonesia's motorcycle sales rose 44 percent in June
from a year earlier, faster than May's 35 percent gain, said PT
Astra International, the nation's biggest auto distributor.

Motorcycle sales rose to 476,955 units last month from 330,360
units in the same month last year, Astra said in a faxed report
on Monday, citing figures from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry
Association.

Motorcycles sold by Jakarta-based Astra rose 32 percent on
year to 241,295 units, the report said.

Astra accounted for 51 percent of the country's total
motorcycle sales in June, lower than the 52 percent share in May,
