RI migrant workers to flock to Nunukan

SAMARINDA: Hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers who illegally entered and worked in Malaysia will soon flock to Nunukan regency, East Kalimantan, to process their immigration documents.

Soedarmo, a worker at a plantation firm in Sabah, said on Tuesday that he and dozens of his friends were among those who had arrived in Nunukan.

"More illegal workers will come to Nunukan. We are scared of being caned by the Malaysian government," Soedarmo, 31, from East Java, said.

Meanwhile, Nunukan regency spokesman Ilham Zain stated the regency was prepared to assist workers process their documents, adding that 50 workers entered the regency every day.-JP
