RI maid jailed for faking robbery
SINGAPORE: An Indonesian maid has been sentenced to more than nine months in jail in Singapore for theft after she faked a robbery at her employer's home, where she was found bound, gagged and in her underwear, a news report said.
The 22-year-old woman, identified only as Tutik, also falsely claimed she'd been raped, The Straits Times newspaper said on Saturday.
She admitted to theft and giving false information to the police last week after she had stolen more than 10,000 Singapore dollars (US$5,950) in cash and valuables from her employer, the newspaper said.
After placing the valuables in her shoes and under a sofa, she locked herself inside a storeroom, stripped to her underwear and tied herself up, the paper said.
Tutik then told her employer two men had broken into the apartment and that one had raped her, the report said. -- AP
