RI maid charged with baby murder

HONG KONG (DPA): A 28-year-old Indonesian domestic helper
appeared before a Hong Kong court on Wednesday, charged with
shaking a five-month-old baby boy to death.

The baby, who was in her care, was certified as dead on
Tuesday evening after being admitted to hospital earlier that day
suffering from convulsions.

A police statement said a postmortem revealed he died from
acute subdural hemorrhaging, or bleeding in the brain, which
medical experts believed was caused by violent shaking.

The woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter after an
investigation revealed she had been alone with the baby that day.
