RI maid bashes Malaysian boss

MALAYSIA: An Indonesian maid in Malaysia allegedly attacked her employer with a pestle after an argument, police said on Tuesday.

The employer, 38-year-old Lee Yuk Chin, complained to her maid after coming home from work to find the house untidy, Johor state police spokesman Abdul Rahim Jaafar told AFP.

The maid replied that she had a male visitor at the house, triggering an argument.

"There was a quarrel as Lee scolded the maid for allowing a stranger into the house," said Abdul Rahim. "The maid then took a pestle and hit her employer on the head."

He said the wound needed 30 stitches and that the maid had gone missing. There are around 2.6 million legal and illegal foreign workers in Malaysia. Cases of "maid abuse" are far more common than attacks on employers. -- AFP
