RI maid allegedly hit with hot ladle

SINGAPORE: A housewife allegedly used a hot ladle to hit her Indonesian maid on the arm and poured bleach on her palm on two separate occasions, it was reported on Tuesday.

Chew Soo Kwee, 34, was charged with the two offenses in district court on Monday, according to local media.

The incidents were said to have taken place in January and March last year.

No plea was taken. Bail of S$10,000 (US$5,952) was set. A pretrial conference is scheduled for April 26. --DPA
