RI lured to fish in Myanmar

JAKARTA (JP): Myanmar is inviting Indonesian companies to catch fish in its water areas, Minister of Agriculture Sjarifudin Baharsjah said here yesterday.

"We will hold a discussion with Myanmarese Minister of Poultry and Fishery Brig. Gen. Maung-Maung about the fees on fishing in their water areas and which port will be used to export the fish," Sjarifudin said prior to the meeting with the Myanmarese minister.

Maung-Maung, leading a delegation of businessmen, is here for a nine-day visit, which started Sept. 12.

Sjarifudin said Myanmar also wants cooperation in agricultural development. "They are very interested in our hatchery system."

Maung-Maung, who made a courtesy call on President Soeharto yesterday, plans to visit Bali, Bandung, Lampung, and Yogyakarta during his stay in Indonesia.(31)
