RI lifters win 6 medals in Seoul

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian lifters chalked up a creditable
showing in the just-concluded Asian Junior Weightlifting
Championships in Seoul by grabbing three golds, one silver and
two bronzes.

The results are all the more impressive given that Indonesia
was represented by only three lifters at the five-day event which
ended yesterday.

"The boys rose to the occasion splendidly," Budi Santoso, a
top official of the Indonesian Weightlifting, Powerlifting and
Bodybuilding Association, stated yesterday.

On the second day of competition, Misdan Yunif won a silver
medal and two bronzes in the 64-kg division. He snatched 117.5 kg
for the silver. He won the bronzes for a 135 kg clean and jerk
and a 252.5 kg total lift.

The Indonesian team is scheduled to return home tomorrow. (bas)
