RI lifter wins world laurels
JAKARTA (JP): Sri Indriyanti stole a little bit of thunder when she won a gold in the junior world weightlifting championships in Warsaw on Friday.
Budi Santoso of the Indonesian Weightlifting, Powerlifting and Bodybuilding Association said on Saturday that Southeast Asian Games silver medalist Indriyanti scored a total lift of 165 kilograms and broke a meet record in her gold medal winning attempt.
Competing in the 46kg division, Indriyanti heaved 73kgs in the snatch to beat China's Xia Shan Yong's world mark by half a kilogram. The Indonesian managed 92.5kgs in the clean and jerk.
Meanwhile, in the Asian power lifting championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Indonesia grabbed its third gold through Tri Haryanto, who finished first in the squat discipline of the 82.5kg division with a lift of 310kgs.
Haryanto added two silvers after hoisting 195kgs in bench press and 287.5kgs in dead lift. (amd)
