RI leads in Rosenblum Cup

The Indonesian bridge team, aiming to bring the Rosenblum Cup home, has shown a smooth performance in leading the Cup's E Group after securing 119 victory points (VPs) in six group preliminary matches in Montreal, Canada, a report said.

A media statement, which was available to The Jakarta Post on Thursday, reported that Indonesia led the group after securing five wins and losing one match.

The Indonesian team lineup consists of manager Amran Zamzami, non-playing captain Munawar Sawiruddin and players Henky Lasut/Eddy Manoppo, Denny Sacul/Franky Karwur and Robert Tobing/Taufik G. Asbi.

The Indonesian team, represented by its young pairing of Robert Tobing/Taufik G. Asbi managed to secure three consecutive victories on the Cup's first day. The Indonesian pair defeated Cadi Tazi of Morocco with 25 VPs against 2, Chagnon of Canada with 22 VPs against 8 and Haderman of Belgium with 16 VPs against 14.

The team also managed to secure victories in the fourth and fifth matches defeating Taciuc of Romania with 25 VPs against 5 and Panahpour of England with 20 VPs against 10, respectively. But, lost to Cornell of New Zealand in the sixth match by 11 VPs to 19.

Indonesia will still have to face two tough teams, Rubin of the United States and Dechelette of France, as well as a relatively easy match against Lachance of Canada.
