RI lands extra quota
JAKARTA (JP): Director General of Foreign Trade Djoko Moeljono said on Tuesday the government had secured an additional quota for textile exports to the United States this year and advised exporters to contact his office to get the additional quota.
Djoko said the increase was a relief for the local textile industry, which had been pummeled by a slump in domestic demand.
He said the original quota to the U.S. market for 1998 had actually finished as of last month and would have halted textile shipments to the U.S. for the rest of this year.
Both large and small scale exporters wanting to obtain additional quotas should submit their request to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade by Oct. 12. (rid)
