KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Indonesia has invited Malaysian investors to revive projects abandoned there three years ago because of the economic crisis, Malaysia's Works Minister said on Monday.
S. Samy Vellu said his visiting Indonesian counterpart Rozik Budioro Soetjipto made the request during a meeting.
Rozik, who is leading a seven-member delegation, said Indonesia and Malaysia's Hicom Group had signed a US$600-million deal for a road project.
The Indonesian minister, who arrived Sunday for a four-day visit, said the delegation wanted to learn from Malaysia's experience in privatizing expressway and railway projects.
"We're planning to erect a rail system for Sumatra," the official Bernama news agency quoted him as saying. No details were given.
