RI installs new envoys for Italy, Nigeria
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated on Tuesday Susanto Sutoyo and Nurhadi Djazuli as the new Indonesian ambassadors to Italy and Nigeria, respectively.
Susanto, a career diplomat, is currently the director general for multilateral economic, financial and developmental affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nurhadi is a former chief secretary and deputy for domestic cooperation at the National Intelligence Agency.
During the ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta, Susilo also accepted the credentials of two new foreign ambassadors -- Lan Lijun from China and Tomasz Lukaszuk from Poland.
Lijun is a career diplomat who has spent most of his career in the United States. His last posting was as minister councillor at the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. since 2002.
Before arriving in Jakarta, Lukaszuk was the deputy head for the Asia Pacific at Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2002. Lukaszuk, who speaks fluent Bahasa Indonesian, was the first secretary at the Polish Embassy in Indonesia from 1998 to 2002. -- JP
