RI girl's doubles lose in final
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian duo of Sandy Gumulya and Septi Nindya Yutami failed to win the girl's doubles title, losing to the South Korean pair of Kim So-jung and Kim Su-jin 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the final of the 2001 Gas Negara international junior championships on Saturday.
India's duo of Sunil Kumar Sipaeya and Vinod Kumar Sewa brought home the boy's doubles title, defeating the South African duo of Robert Blair and Izak Van Der Merwe 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 at the Kemayoran Tennis Center here.
The United States earned a total of two titles in the event. Second-seed Jonathan Chu beat Robert Blair 6-4, 5-7, 7-5, while Chu's compatriot, Amber Liu, overpowered top seeded Maretha Van Niekerk of South Africa 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.(ivy)
