RI firm enters Solomons

HONIARA (AFP): A consortium of Indonesian companies plans to
develop a multi-million dollar tourism project here through a
vehicle known as Metropolis Pacific Ltd., Finance Minister
Christopher Columbus Abe said yesterday.

It will be developed outside the Solomon Islands capital on
Guadalcanal where wreckage from World War II still litters the
reefs, beaches and bushes.

Abe said representatives of the company were here to finalize
the leasing of land.

Group leader George Lee, who is also chairman of the Panin
Bank of Indonesia, said the company will build a four-star hotel,
along with bungalow accommodation and a golf course.
