JAKARTA (JP): Chairman of the National Sports Council Wismoyo Arismunandar said yesterday that the soccer gold is an imperative at the 19th Southeast Asian Games here next year.
Wismoyo told the new board of the Indonesian Soccer Association yesterday that the national team ought to be smarting from a string of upsets in the 18th Games last December.
"These failures should motivate us to bounce back," Wismoyo said. Indonesia was denied a place at the SEA Games semifinals when it was ignominiously tipped out with a 0-1 defeat to Vietnam.
Wismoyo swore in reelected soccer chief Azwar Anas and his staff yesterday. Azwar, the State Minister of People's Welfare, won his second four-year term at a national congress last month. (05)
