RI exports urea to Vietnam

JAKARTA (JP): PT Prima Comexindo, controlled by businessman
Hasyim Djojohadikoesomo, will export 100,000 tons of urea
fertilizer to Vietnam, one of the world's largest rice producing
countries.

Hasyim, in Hanoi, said that his company has signed a
memorandum of understanding with the Vietnamese government for
the urea export to that country.

"The Vietnamese government has asked for 250,000 tons. But I'm
afraid we do not have enough stocks," Hasyim was quoted over the
weekend by Business Indonesia.

He said Vietnam's demand for urea will continue to rise
because the country is the third largest rice exporter in the
world after Thailand and the United States.

He added that his company is also considering building a urea
production plant in Vietnam.

"We are actually invited to build a urea plant in Vietnam. But
we will have to study its feasibility," Hasyim said. (rid)
