RI envoy to Norway submits credentials

JAKARTA: New Indonesian ambassador to Norway Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi submitted her credentials to Norway's King Harald V last week, the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo said.

"Ambassador Retno submitted her credentials just four days after her arrival in Oslo from Jakarta," the embassy said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post.

Retno, Indonesia's youngest woman ambassador, had a brief meeting with King Harald V after submitting her credentials.

"We discussed possible efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Norway. The King has been observing the positive developments in Indonesia," Retno said in response to an e-mail from the Post.

Retno, 43, also said the king had asked for information about the progress of reconstruction in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.

Aceh was the worst affected in last year's deadly tsunami, with more than 126,000 people killed and half a million made homeless. -- JP
