RI drafts more MOU on labor

JAKARTA: The government has completed a Memorandum of Understanding on labor placement with South Korea and Taiwan, which follows a similar draft proposed to Malaysia.

Director-General of Labor Placement Overseas I Gusti Made Arka, said on Sunday that while the MOU with Malaysia was ready for signing on May 10, negotiations were still underway with South Korea and Taiwan authorities for their approval of the draft.

"South Korea has promised to ink a deal on labor placement agreement this year, so has Taiwan. We're just waiting until they sign them," Arka said.

Illegal migrant workers will be the main issue to address with the signing of the MOUs, Arka added. -- Antara
