RI debt talks continue
FRANKFURT (Reuters): The latest round of talks on rescheduling
Indonesia's $80 billion in private-sector debt entered its second
day in Frankfurt with no indication emerging of whether any
progress has been made.
"The talks are continuing," said a spokesman for Deutsche Bank
AG, co-chair of the bank steering committee.
He declined to comment on the progress of the talks, on
whether they were likely to end on Tuesday and on whether a
public statement would be made.
Radius Prawiro, the chief debt negotiator for Indonesia, said
on Monday he expected "good things" to come out of the meeting.
Prawiro said he planned to spend three days in Frankfurt.
A total of 13 banks are represented at the talks, including
the three co-chairs Deutsche, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Ltd and
Chase Manhattan Corp. Deutsche is the only German banks at the
talks.
