RI confident of beating Cambodia

JAKARTA (JP): National coach Danurwindo said he was confident Indonesia could beat Cambodia in the World Cup Asian zone qualifier here on April 6.

Danurwindo, head coach of the national team PSSI, said Tuesday he was confident of success after observing the results of a series of intensive training by the players.

"Our players have undergone intensive training for the match and are focusing on the attacking as well as the defense," Danurwindo said after witnessing the PSSI team in a trial match against Tunas Jaya. PSSI won the match 6-0.

In the trial match, the coach said he had instructed his players to press the defense of Tunas Jaya. "We want to apply this method in our match against Cambodia. I found that the method is very effective."

PSSI's secretary Nugraha Besoes said that PSSI is ready to face Cambodia.

The Indonesia-Cambodia match will be held at the Senayan Main Stadium which can accommodate some 110,000 spectators.

"We are planning to place 500 security officers at the stadium. Our main concern is to guard the spectators," Nugraha said.

According to Nugraha, security has been a crucial problem at almost every soccer match. "FIFA is always watching Indonesia's security at the stadiums."

Nugraha has called on spectators not to create disturbance during the April 6 match.

For the match, the organizer has issued 50,000 tickets at Rp 50,000 for West VIP, Rp 20,000 for East VIP, Rp 30,000 for First Class and Rp 10,000 for Second Class.

Indonesia will hold two other World Cup qualifiers. The two matches will be held in Manado, North Sulawesi and in Surabaya, East Java.

In Manado, Indonesia will meet Yemen on April 13 and in Surabaya, Indonesia plays Uzbekistan on June 1. (lnt)
