RI capital city
RI capital city
From Kompas
Considering that Jakarta is continually inundated, either by
huge floods like in 1976 and 1996 or by smaller ones every time
it rains; and that the capital city is so plagued by traffic
congestion, so haunted by criminal action, I herewith propose to
the authorities that in the 21st century Indonesia's capital city
be moved from Jakarta to, for example, Bogor in West Java.
Bogor has two presidential palaces, one close to the Botanical
Gardens, the other at Batutulis. A third one at Cipanas could be
renovated.
Bogor's cool air would help our statesmen relieve their
"headaches" brought about by the rapidly growing population and
other problems in this republic. The environment ministry
especially should be built in the Puncak area so it can safeguard
the increasingly "balding" mountain slopes as these have been
"planted" with tycoons' palaces.
By moving the capital city, we can leave the former Batavia
alone in its noisy activities as a trading center. Or is Jakarta
to remain the capital city despite the rapid decline of its
amenities these past few years?
