RI buys Thai olefins

BANGKOK (AFP): Thailand's first export shipment of upstream
petrochemicals known as olefins was being loaded on a tanker for
delivery to Indonesia, the National Petrochemical Public Co. Ltd.
(NPC) said yesterday.

The company had recently begun transferring 3,334 tons of
ethylene gas from storage facilities for delivery to PT Penny
Ltd. of Indonesia, a downstream petrochemical company, NPC said
in a statement.

"In the near future, NPC plans to make similar shipments to
companies in India and China," followed by exports of propylene
gas, it said.

NPC is a subsidiary of the state Petroleum Authority of
Thailand.
