NEW DELHI (DPA): Indian-made technology to produce particle boards from rice husks rather than wood chips will soon be adopted in Indonesia under a licensing deal signed yesterday.
India's state-run National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), which developed the eco-friendly timber substitute, has already taken patents in several rice-growing countries.
The NDRC and a private firm which is an associate licensee have already exported the indigenously-developed technology to Malaysia and will now sell the know-how to an Indonesian firm.
"The use of this agricultural waste material for manufacturing the highly eco-friendly board is a measure of success that can be achieved by Indian scientists," NDRC said in a statement.
