RI baseball team off to Osaka

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia will send a 16-strong team to the AAA
Asian Under-18 Baseball Championship in Osaka, Japan, scheduled
to run from Sept. 3 to Sept. 14.

Team manager Harry Trisnadi said on Monday that his squad
aimed only "to seek lessons from established baseball countries
like Japan, Chinese Taipei and South Korea", due to the lack of
time the team has had to prepare for the competition. Harry's
boys gathered together only two weeks ago.

Eight teams have entered the student championship. Besides the
continent's three baseball powerhouses, China, the Philippines,
Mongolia and Australia will also take part. (yan)
