RI August auto sales up 31%

JAKARTA: Automobile sales in Indonesia rose 31 percent in
August from a year earlier, said PT Astra International, the
nation's biggest auto distributor, citing figures from the
Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers.

Auto sales in the nation rose to 50,608 units in August, the
highest in three months, from 38,680 units in the same month a
year earlier, Astra said in a statement on Wednesday.

Astra sold 24,195 cars in August in the domestic market, from
14,591 a year earlier. -- Bloomberg
