RI assigns consul for Jamaica
NEW YORK: The Indonesian government has appointed the director of
the Jamaican Port Authority, Noel Arthur Anthony Hylton, as
Indonesian honorary consul for Jamaica, Antara news agency
reported on Thursday.
Rezlan Ishar Jenie, head of Indonesia's mission to the United
Nations in New York, said during the inauguration ceremony in
Jamaica's capital city of Kingston on Tuesday that Hylton was
chosen for his credibility which is also recognized by Jamaican
government and society.
Hylton expressed his gratitude and respect to the Indonesian
government and pledged to improve bilateral relations.
During their stay in Kingston, Indonesia's delegation also
held a series of events to promote understanding on the country,
including an exhibition of Indonesian products, a reception for
Jamaican government officials and diplomats and a seminar on
Indonesia.
The seminar, held at the West Indies University in Kingston on
Wednesday, discussed democratization, Indonesian Military reform,
development, tourism and Islam in Indonesia, Antara said. -- JP
