RI and UK Sign £50 Million Manufacturing Cooperation Deal
PT Wiraraja Indonesia and Polythene UK Ltd have officially signed a Joint Venture Agreement worth approximately £50 million, or around Rp 1.17 trillion. The agreement strengthens economic cooperation between the two countries in the sustainable manufacturing sector, focusing on investment, technology transfer, and the development of value-added industries. The signing was the culmination of a series of business visits by PT Wiraraja Indonesia to the United Kingdom since 23 June 2026, which included meetings with manufacturing industry players to explore strategic cooperation opportunities in Indonesia. The process from exploration to signing was facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in London together with the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) London and the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral investment flows and economic partnerships. The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the IMO, Desra Percaya, stated that this cooperation reflects growing trust between Indonesian and British business actors. ‘This signing reflects the increasingly strong trust between Indonesian and British business actors and a shared commitment to building a long-term partnership that provides added value for both countries,’ Desra said in a statement on Tuesday (30/6/2026). The agreement is also a tangible manifestation of the UK-Indonesia New Strategic Partnership, strengthening bilateral cooperation in the economy, trade, and investment. Through this strategic partnership, private sector collaboration is expected to drive the strengthening of industrial supply chains, accelerate technology transfer, create jobs, and develop sustainable industries in Indonesia. The Embassy will continue to facilitate economic cooperation and business partnerships between Indonesian and British business actors to expand investment opportunities in priority sectors and strengthen bilateral economic relations in a sustainable manner.
