RI administration the worst in the world

DENPASAR: The country's public administrative system is the most extravagant in the world because it spends taxpayers' money on extravagant things that in no way benefit the poor, a noted politician said on Sunday.

The chairman of the newly-established Democratic Nationhood Unity Party, Ryass Rasyid, said that state administrators spent hundreds of trillions of rupiah in funding senior officials' housing allowances, travel expenses, ceremonial events, and political events that had nothing to do with the needs of the public.

"Some Rp 700 trillion has been paid out through the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Support (BLBI) scheme, something that has nothing to do with the poor people, who are the majority in this country," he said.

Ryaas vowed that his party would not tolerate such extravagances and, instead, would make changes to the political, social, economic and legal systems to allow the poor to benefit from public spending. --Antara
