RHF Airport: Four flights cancelled due to Anak Krakatau eruption

General Manager of Raja Haji Fisabilillah (RHF) International Airport Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (Kepri), Mohamad Setiadi Dermawan, said four flights to and from the airport were cancelled as a result of the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

“This eruption has impacted the spread of volcanic ash along flight routes as well as the operations of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta to several regions, including Tanjungpinang,” Setiadi said in Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands, on Sunday.

He said the flight cancellations were carried out to ensure the safety of both passengers and flight crew.

The cancelled flights to and from RHF Airport Tanjungpinang, along with the affected passengers, were Batik Air ID 6824 on the Jakarta-Tanjungpinang route with 74 passengers.

Then, Batik Air ID 6825 Tanjungpinang-Jakarta with 126 passengers, Citilink QG 974 Jakarta-Tanjungpinang with 136 passengers, and Citilink QG 975 Tanjungpinang-Jakarta with 133 passengers.

“A total of 469 passengers were affected by flight cancellations today,” said the RHF Airport GM.

Setiadi said the RHF Airport operational team has coordinated with airlines and relevant agencies to ensure proper handling of passengers experiencing flight delays.

The airport will provide regular information updates regarding flight schedules affected by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

“For members of the public who will be travelling through RHF Airport, they are expected to regularly monitor their flight schedules and coordinate with their airline to confirm their flight schedule,” he said.

Setiadi added that RHF Airport Tanjungpinang management continues to synergise with all airport stakeholders to provide wholehearted service to all airport service users, while also praying that the eruption disaster of Mount Anak Krakatau can be resolved soon.
